I’ve always been someone who enjoys pouring a lot of time and energy into a creative endeavor. Focusing on all the little details and practicing the patience required to see a project to fruition has always been a great escape for me from all the racing thoughts of my mind and distractions of the world around me.

When I first moved to the Comox Valley, I stumbled upon the work of the Wood Vibe Tribe and was struck with awe from what could be achieved, both in complexity and color, from compiling small pieces of various exotic natural woods together into amazingly intricate mosaics. My love for intarsia had been sparked.

Eventually, I got my foot jammed firmly in the door after a chance meeting with Chris Boux at a local gathering and began apprenticing with him on the various projects he had in the works. I found the simplicity of the individual tasks soothing and the accumulation of them into the works of art they would become absolutely mesmerizing. I was hooked.

With a background in art creation of many forms as a lifelong hobby and woodworking and carpentry as a career trajectory, I found the two came crashing together perfectly into what I now consider to be my main artistic passion and purpose. I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to dive into it with this collective that is at the pinnacle of skill and creativity in this artform and look forward to conjuring up many future creations, both individually and collaboratively, with this Wood Vibe Tribe.
